Waverley and South Head General Cemeteries are state heritage listed cemeteries in an iconic location in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. We are also one of Sydney's oldest continually operating funeral suppliers, caring for families since 1877.
With our picturesque location at Bronte and significant sculptural quality monuments and memorials, Waverley Cemetery is a popular choice when selecting a resting place or commemorating the life of a loved family member.

We provide a wide range of products and services, including the sale of Burial Licences in graves and memorial gardens, traditional coffin burial, ash interments, on-site open air funerals, basic care maintenance plans, advice on headstones and other associated items.

Importantly, the income from the sale of all of our goods and services enables us to maintain and preserve our spectacular monuments and structures for the future.

We pride ourselves on our high quality service to those who need us as they experience loss, bereavement and grief.

False development article published in The Beast Magazine

The article published in the January 2018 edition of The Beast Magazine claiming a new development will force the eviction of Waverley Cemetery residents is false and completely untrue.

Please be assured, this article is a satirical piece and is not supported by Council.

We understand this article has caused signigicant distress to friends and family of those buried at the cemetery.

Waverley Cemetery is of State Heritage significance. This means that it will never be anything other than an operating cemetery.

Waverley Cemetery prides itself on providing a beautiful resting place to commemorate the lives of loved ones and this will not change.

Waverley Council is committed to protecting and celebrating the history of the cemetery and the people buried there for future generations.

Cemetery Landslip and Coastal Walk Restoration Works

Works to restore Waverley Cemetery's landslip and coastal walk which were damaged in the June 2016 wild storm, are scheduled to commence on 18 September 2017 and last approximately 9 - 12 months. This work will address safety issues, reopen the coastal walk and secure the landslip from further slippage.

While this work occurs, no vehicles can enter the cemetery. The cemetery can be accessed by foot only. The footprint of the site will continue to be fenced off and a number of safety measures will be in place.
